Corvatsch, Silvaplana, Switzerland. The beautiful Engadin region of St. Moritz will host the 2025 World Champs next year, and just finished building the newest halfpipe in the world this winter season. The European Cup on 9th of April 2024 was also the test event for next years World Championships and the first competition ever held in this halfpipe.
Moritz already liked the pipe during the training day he had before the competition. "It feels amazing, especially at this time of the year.". The 22 year-old German athlete was definetly looking for another final and top 5 result there.
But it came even better:

An again international riders field including athletes from New Zealand, USA, Estonia and more promised another high level European Cup. The weather was, besides the Sahara sand, fine but expected to get worse throughout the day.
Moritz qualified for finals in 5th place, just like in Laax. But that was not enough for him. The whole day he felt like something bigger was possible at this day. In the finals, he showed the technically most advanced runs he has done all season, leaving him in an undoubted 2nd place, behind World Cup podium skier Luke Harrold from New Zealand.
Isabelle Hanssen (coach): "I am so happy for Moritz. The whole season he has shown a great progression. We have worked for this moment for so long. And today it became reality."
It was Moritz first European Cup podium and personal best result.
"I am sooo happy. We have worked hard for this, as a team. Thanks to my parents, family, friends, sponsors and everyone involved in making this possible. And thank you Isabelle, you made me do this!", Moritz states.
